Leaving six studio albums in their path\, they have been reinventing their music with every record. Spit from the heart of America’s Rust Belt\, arising from a night of flophouse violence. Drifting across the states\, they cemented their sound in Portland\, OR and later in Los Angeles\, CA\, where they lived in abandoned buildings\, squatter camps\, storage units and shoebox apartments. In 2007\, they left everything behind and spent the next four years living out of whatever vehicle would get them to the next town. Building upon their original sound of twanged-out\, punk rock “gutterbilly” (Life of Sin 2004 and Gutterbillyblues 2007)\, they began picking up stray musicians along the way and adding to their sound; washboard\, accordion\, mandolin and banjo (Ghost of th’ Rails 2009 and 7 Devils 2011) creating a sound referred to as “hobocore”\, “gypsy-punk” or “americana-punk”\, while never being stuck in any one sound. Enter 2018 and The Goddamn Gallows have reinvented themselves once again with The Trial. From rockabilly\, psychobilly and punk rock\, to bluegrass and metal\, The Trial infuses disparate sounds into a new strange recipe of seamless genre bending profundities. Chock full of impromptu antics of the shocking variety and hauntingly eclectic instrumentation\, The Goddamn Gallows have made legions of fans with their legendary\, live shows. The Goddamn Gallows\, takes their progression of mixing punk rock\, bluegrass\, psychobilly\, and metal to a whole new level! Formed in 2010\, the band quickly rose through the local music scene\, selling out shows and touring nationally as their reputation spread. \nFrontwoman Jelly leads with a rare blend of innocence and ferocity\, delivering performances that are both raw and magnetic. Guitarist Eric Mitchell and bassist Chris Reifsteck provide the backbone of the band with groovy riffs and soulful tones that drive the sound forward. The band’s original lineup also included drummer and founding member Paul Solem\, whose powerful presence helped shape The Jelly Project’s identity until his passing from cancer in 2024. \nAt their peak\, The Jelly Project became one of the most sought-after rock acts in the Twin Cities. Highlights from this era include multiple sold-out shows\, national tours\, a performance at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip\, winning a Battle of the Bands in 2015\, and gaining notoriety for challenging the status quo of local radio media. \nIn 2016\, the band went on hiatus as members shifted focus toward families and new careers. Following the loss of Paul Solem in 2024\, the remaining founding members—Jelly\, Eric\, and Chris—have felt a renewed calling to honor the band’s legacy. Featuring all original jazz compositions in a variety of styles and folk/fusion openers\, this show has a little bit of something for everybody.—Dakota Andersen is a vocalist\, songwriter\, arranger\, and educator based in Minneapolis. A newcomer to the Twin Cities\, he is quickly becoming established in the jazz scene with performances at Jazz Central Studios\, Aster Cafe\, The Lexington\, MetroNOME Brewery\, Hook and Ladder\, and Resource. Most recently\, he released his debut album of 10 original songs entitled Switchgrass. The album encompasses a wide range of vocal jazz styles – funk\, bebop\, bossa nova\, Tin Pan Alley era swing\, modal jazz\, jazz folk\, etc. – and draws heavily on inspiration from nature. Past collaborations include Kurt Elling\, Sinne Eeg\, Darmon Meader\, Laila Biali\, Miguel Zenón\, Myra Melford\, Carl Allen\, the One O’Clock Lab Band\, and the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra. Dakota is originally from Fairfield\, Iowa and earned his undergraduate degree in choral music education from the University of Northern Iowa and his master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas.—Cass and Rachel are a guitar and vocal folk duo ready to sing and play their way into your hearts! Comprised of Twin Cities singer-songwriter-guitarists Cassandra Johnson and Rachel Bearinger\, the two combine their own songwriting with folk/americana favorites from their songwriting heroes. When they’re not playing together or solo\, you can catch them with their respective groups: Astronomy Town and St. Rangers.—Ryan Garmoe is a trumpet player and composer based in Minneapolis\, MN. He currently leads multiple original projects\, including the fusion group\, Wave Cage\, who was awarded a 2025 Jazz Road Tours Grant to tour the Midwest. The band’s debut album\, Even You Can See in the Dark\, was released on Shifting Paradigm Records in 2023. Ryan also performs original music with his sextet and has released collections of ambient tracks entitled “Sketches”. Ryan has performed at Twin Cities Jazz Festival\, Artprize International Art Competition\, Iowa City Jazz Festival\, 80/35\, Mission Creek Festival\, GDP Festival\, Greeley Jazz Festival\, Summer Camp Music Festival\, Iowa Soul Festival\, and 515 Alive.
