Kelly Criminal Defense LLC presents:\nAn Evening with\nThe Shackletons\n\n\nA Pre-State Fair Party for The Hold Steady Fan Club!\n \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Hook hosts a homecoming gathering for all fans of The Hold Steady and The Shackletons!\n \nJoin us after THS Book Signing event at The Electric Fetus (9/1 at 5pm – More Info Here) for a indoor/outdoor party with the scene! \n\nThe Shackletons are a rock band from Minneapolis\, circa 2014\, composed of brothers Colin Campbell (guitar/vocals)\, Cameron Campbell (bass/backing vocals)\, and Evan Campbell (drums/misc screaming). Local radio station The Current has described them as\, “Conor Oberst with a John Belushi attitude\, fronting The Hold Steady.” \n\n \nThe band puts on electrifying live performances pulling from their catalog of punk\, indie\, blues\, and whatever they’re feeling like playing at the moment. The Shackletons draw from a plethora of influences including The Replacements\, The Who\, Against Me!\, and Old 97s. \n\nWith multiple EPs and singles under their belt\, The Shackletons released their first full length album in December of 2021\, produced by John Fields. In the weeks following their self-titled release\, it became the #1 self-released album added to independent radio stations\, and the #12 most added overall.

Pre-party starts at 6:30pm. Showtime at 8pm. \nIra Ford\, from Maryland\, was a lyricist before he followed his passion of comedy. He was always amazed at how a comedian could hold so many people’s attention. Now based in Minneapolis\, he is an open book who talks about life experiences ranging from drugs to family. He unapologetically says what he thinks. His unique and hilarious stories earned him a semifinalist finish at The Funniest Person with a Day Job Contest at Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy\, and had his own wildly popular monthly showcase which he hosted and curates “Laughs and Legends” at Lakes and Legends Brewery in downtown Minneapolis. He is currently a paid regular emcee at the hottest comedy club in Minnesota Acme Comedy Company.\n \n\nMatt Dooyema is a proud pet father of 4 from St Cloud. A bartender by trade\, Matt’s humor has been influenced by the stories from behind the bartop and the soul crushing realization that his mother was most likely right about not finishing college. Irreverent by nature\, Silly by design\, Bitter by circumstance\, Matt is a high energy performer willing to please and host of the Keller Comedy Open Mic & Co host of the Awful Service Podcast. \nAt 19 years old\, Aidan McCluskey gave up on his associate’s degree and began his comedy career. Four months after his first open mic\, he won Acme’s Funniest Person Contest\, becoming the youngest winner in the contest’s history. After taking a short sabbatical to join a pyramid scheme in Las Vegas\, Aidan returned to Minneapolis in 2021 and quickly rose to the top of the local scene. He is now a regular at Acme Comedy Company and The House of Comedy. He’s been a guest on the Adam Friedland Show and hosts his own semi-regular podcast\, Smoke Show. You can find him headlining a random bar in the middle of nowhere. \nGabby Ok was the finalist in The Funniest Person With a Day Job Contest. \nSydni Stephens is the producer of The Gopher Hole Comedy Club and HOC Funniest Person Finalist.

She’s performed on a variety of stages\, from Basilica Block Party to WNBA games at Target Center\, First Avenue to 331 Club\, either with a full band\, solo or performing as a special guest with popular acts such as Kiss The Tiger or HALEY. Also a journalist\, Diane has served as radio host/producer of The Local Show since August 2021. Every Sunday from 6-8pm\, she presents a variety of some of the best music Minnesota has to offer\, as well as interviews some of the most influential voices in the state. Prior to her role at The Current\, Diane worked as the talent booker for the Minneapolis-based venue/restaurant Icehouse. Diane first gained notoriety in her hometown of Fargo-Moorhead. The Fargo South High School and Minnesota State University Moorhead music grad fronts the local hip-hop band D Mills & The Thrills. She served as the editor-in-chief of the local alt weekly High Plains Reader. The “Westies”\, as they soon became known\, started out as an intensely chaotic\, Stooge-y hard rock band\, but later evolved into a hard-to-define amalgam of indie\, rock\, roots\, punk\, and funk\, driven by a ferocious\, lusty energy that infected any audience they came into contact with at one legendary live show after another. A small circle of musical rebels who came together to form a movement\, they took their place front and center to experience and participate in the explosion of now legendary undergroundmusic that was created during the golden era of American Punk Rock. \nBeing the first to combine the melodic California surf guitar sound with the frantic energy of punk\, Agent Orange invented the formula that would come to define the Orange County punk sound. Highly influential to many of the bands who have followed in their path\, Agent Orange have always stayed one step ahead. Their strong connection to the Action Sports world has resulted in their music providing the soundtrack to numerous major motion pictures\, video games\, surf and skate films\, television\, and live sports events. \nThe last of the true independents\, Agent Orange have managed to stay true to their roots\, while always moving forward. Powered by a loyal following built up through years of explosive live performances all over the world\, Agent Orange continue to deliver their Fullblown-Supercharged-Punk-Surf Sound on an international basis\, with a never ending schedule of tours in the United States\, Canada\, South America\, Europe\, Australia\, and Japan. \nC’mon down front and expose yourself to Agent Orange. \nWhat if…What if you could take the attitude and raw rock and roll fury of the Sex Pistols and fuse it with the sass and fun of the Spice Girls? This was the question Hairy Scary Spice (Mike Muellenberg) asked himself\, and the rest of the world in 2017. Ginger Binger Spice (John Risdon) and Maybe Baby Spice (Michael Fairchild) were brought on board with Shorty Sporty Spice (Mike Van Dyle) as the genesis of The Spice Pistols. In their first year as a band they performed on Americas Got Talent\, and were summarily x’d out of existence by Simon Cowell.He relented that the Spice Pistols sounded better than the original. But still\, fuck you Simon!Over the next few years the band went through a few drummers and has worked with James Lightbody\, Dider Suarez\, Dave Klein\, Rick Agnew\, and Jim Isaac. They played shows in the Southern California area as well as recording and releasing a demo. In 2020\, the core line up added Mosh Posh Spice (Doug Walker) and began touring. \n

DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS \n\n	\n		\n\n	\n	\nMedina Entertainment center \n\nDoors 7:00pm\nMusic 8:00pm\n21+ \nGeneral Seating $36 / Silver Reserved  $46 / Gold Reserved $50\n  \n\n\n*Does not include feesNO REFUNDS \n\n    COVID-19 Policies\n  \n\n		\n					\n\n	\n\n	\n				\n			\n			\n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n\n	\n		\n\n	\n	\nLeonid & Friends\n\n\nWorld Class Chicago Tribute\n \n\n\nWith multiple sold-out U.S. tours under its belt and hundreds of thousands of fans around the world\, Leonid & Friends continues to astound its global audience with its unique ability in capturing the spirit\, musicality\, and fire of American supergroup Chicago.  And what is even more stunning is that Leonid & Friends\, comprised of 11 of the finest musicians in Russia\, Ukraine\, Moldova\, and Belarus\, haven’t seen Chicago perform live\, yet replicates the band’s complex arrangements amazingly note for note. Chicago has never been in Russia\, and none of us have attended their concerts\,” said Leonid Vorobyev\, a multi-instrumentalist who is the band’s leader. “We have only recordings and videos (to help us learn Chicago songs).”\nIronically\, Vorobyev wasn’t always a fan of horn bands\, and as a teenager gravitated to the hard-driving guitar-based sounds of the Beatles\, Creedence Clearwater Revival\, Deep Purple\, and Grand Funk Railroad. \n \n “In the early 1970s in the USSR\, electric guitars\, amplifiers\, and drums were rare to find so at school we were playing self-made instruments\,” Vorobyev explained. “We were allowed to rehearse in the same room with a horns band. Those musicians almost always were drunk and quite often tried to play with us our rock songs. It was a nightmare\, and I hated them all!” But that all changed when Vorobyev heard Chicago. He became an instant fan. “I loved so much the brilliant mixture of rock guitars\, drums\, and jazz horns with bright vocal harmonies\,” he said.  In 2014\, Vorobyev decided to indulge his love for the band by gathering a few fellow musicians in a studio to record a video of them playing his favorite Chicago tune\, Brand New Love Affair. \n\nNo charts or scores of the song existed so Vorobyev transcribed the tune by ear. The result was a YouTube video that quickly went viral. Since then Leonid & Friends has recorded videos of other Chicago hits including Make Me Smile\, 25 or 6 to 4\, and Saturday In The Park. All total the videos have received more than 50 million views. Also\, Leonid & Friends has recorded two albums showcasing its tribute to Chicago. The process of getting each tune just right is a painstaking labor of love. In addition to scoring and arranging\, Vorobyev oversees mixing and mastering of each song. However\, he credits his highly skilled bandmates for making each tune sing. “All of my musician friends are highly professional\,” he said.  However\, Leonid & Friends hasn’t been satisfied with merely connecting with fans through videos and recordings. In early 2019\, the band embarked on its first tour outside of Russia that had fans dancing in the aisles at sold-out shows in New York\, Los Angeles\, Chicago\, and Florida. Two other scorching coast-to-coast U.S. tours followed that same year. “The fans were so eager to see us that some traveled from as far as Hawaii and the Philippines not mentioning flying across the U.S .and driving for hours to attend our shows\,” Vorobyev said. “I was expecting a warm greeting but I didn’t expect such a warm reception and with so much love and gratitude for us.” In Los Angeles\, the band met its musical heroes\, founding members of Chicago\, keyboardist Robert Lamm\, and drummer Danny Seraphine as well as Michelle Kath Sinclair\, daughter of late\, great Chicago guitarist Terry Kath. “We were so thrilled that Robert\, Danny\, and Michelle took the time to visit with us\,” Vorobyev said. “It was an experience that we will cherish and remember forever.” When Leonid & Friends isn’t touring\, band members are in the studio in Moscow immersing themselves in Chicago’s storied catalog of hits and deep tracks while preparing for the next tour. In September of 2018\, the band recorded its first song from legendary supergroup Earth\, Wind\, & Fire and also paid tribute to the band Blood\, Sweat & Tears as well. Borrowing a line from one of Chicago’s biggest hits\, “it’s only the beginning” of great things from Leonid & Friends.

Reborn for the band’s 40th Anniversary\, core members Todd Menton and Drew Milleradd drummer Mo Engel and violinist Haley Olson to the lineup\, moving forward with a wealth of new material\, as well as looking backward to reframe old tunes. \n\n \nBob Mould of Hüsker Dü was among those who praised the band’s first self-released LP (“Even the Fiddles Rock\,”) and the Hüskers invited the band to play an early show at Goofy’s Upper Deck. Today\, the band’s star is still on the wall at First Avenue.\n \nBoiled In Lead have been innovators in bridging traditional music from many cultures with the sound and attitude of a rock band. A Boiled In Lead concert combines darkly-tinged folk ballads and originals with instrumental dance music from Ireland and elsewhere. Based in Minnesota\, Áit Ait (pronounced “ahh-tch eye-tch”) is Aja McCullough (song) and Patrick Maun(sound). The two set out to explore the living tradition that is Irish folk music – ever evolving and always changing\, a solid footing set in the past but looking towards the future.
