Kent used to sell sandwiches to audience members for a dollar a piece during these performances.\n \nThe first lesson RL taught Kent was that to be a bluesman you have to find your own rhythm on the guitar. You can’t play someone else’s rhythm – as rhythm comes from your heart.—The youngest son of R.L. Burnside\, and member of the Junior Kimbrough Band\, a passion for music and a talent for performance\, Garry Burnside has been captivating since he was 11 years old. For More Information visit www.ZenArcadeTHC.com \n		\n					\n\n	\n\n	\n				\n			\n			\n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n\n	\n		\n\n	\n	\nSubhumans / FEA\nSubhumans are one of the most influential bands from the UK Anarcho-Punk scene of the 80’s\, filed right alongside Crass and Conflict\, and just as relevant today as they were during the darkest days of Thatcher’s Britain. Take your choice in how to label them – Punk\, UK82\, Crusty\, etc\, – there lies the attraction and consequent reason for their popularity\, the band epitomizes non-conformity and connects with people in many different scenes.\n \nForming in 1980\, recording and releasing a series of live and demo cassette tapes on their own Bluurg label\, they continued to release music throughout the 80’s – building a powerhouse of a back catalog that completely stands the test of time. Their debut LP ‘The Day the Country Died’ (1983)\, with its Orwellian influence\, is considered by many to be a classic and has sold in excess of 100\,000 copies. The second album\, ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’\, came swiftly the following year (1984)\, and although the same frenetic pace is in evidence\, this marks a significant musical development for the band. In 1985 Subhumans broke up\, citing the usual musical differences\, although had managed to release a third\, maybe ironically entitled\, LP ‘Worlds Apart.’ A final EP was released posthumously in 1986\, ‘29:29 Split Vision\,’ a further demonstration of how far the band had come musically from their initial leanings.\n \nDick Lucas subsequently joined Culture Shock and then formed political ska-punk band Citizen Fish in 1990\, both bands releasing many albums\, and still playing today. Subhumans had a couple of reunion shows in the nineties\, before a more permanent return for the 21st century\, including 2 major tours of the US\, the first resulting in the ‘Live in a Dive’ LP. The Subhumans then released a further studio album in 2007\, ‘Internal Riot\,’ again on Bluurg Records. The band is still passionate and angry\, illustrated by Dick saying “Being in a band is the source of most of my passion and drive! The live experience of sharing it with people keeps it ongoing\, the release of anger\, frustration and initially negative/destructive states of mind is a release from the downward spiral of keeping it all bottled up and it feels positive/constructive as a result.”\n \nThe band have recently written ten new songs\, which Pirates Press Records are thrilled to be releasing\, and are embarking on a year of touring in both Europe and North America! First a split with The Restarts before a 12” of their own comes out in October of 2019! The social and political commentary of bands like Subhumans forged a path\, along with their contemporaries\, for punk to change lives and opinions around the world. Sadly the things they sang about forty years ago are largely just as important now\, sometimes more so in an age of Trump and Brexit. We can’t wait to hear more of what they have to say about the current political climate\, the immense imbalance of wealth and power\, and the causes they hold near and dear to their hearts.

In 2001\, the idea to form a Van Morrison tribute band was formed\, and Terry spent the rest of the year learning Van songs and building an all-star band\, with Joe Loskotaon keyboards and Vic Volare running the horn section. The band played their first show at the old 400 Bar on Saint Patrick’s Day 2002.\n \nMany musicians played with the band over the first few years\, and continue to do so today\, but the ‘A’ team was soon established: Dan Kowalke on guitar and backing vocals\, Joe Baumgart (bass)\, Dave Kirby and Dave Haugen (drums\, backing vocals)\, Joe Loskota(keyboards\, backing vocals)\, Paul Gronert (sax)\, Matt Hanzelka (trombone)\, Tim Martin (trumpet)\, Vic Volare(sax\, flute) and Terry Walsh (lead vocals\, guitar\, harmonica\, piano).\n \nThe band has expanded its content over the years to include rock and soul covers along with Terry’s own originals\, which have become fan favorites. Now a beloved staple in Minnesota\, the 9-piece Belfast Cowboys averaged over 120 shows a year before the pandemic. The bar-tested troubadours are known for playing epic sets at their weekly Minneapolis gigs and drawing large crowds to outdoor festivals. Occasionally they’ll venture beyond the Midwest to play Ireland\, Phoenix\, New York’s Times Square\, and once opened for the band Chicago in front of 15\,000 people.

Often referred to as the “heir apparent” to legendary ‘voice’ George Jones\, the GRAMMY nominated performer helped shape and make the ‘90s a shining decade for country music. His multi-platinum albums were propelled into the record books by hits such as “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful\,” “Queen of My Doublewide Trailer”\, “I Can’t Reach Her Anymore\,” “National Working Woman’s Holiday\,” “Love Of My Life\,” —\n“Cadillac Style\,” “Don’t Go Near The Water\,” “Haunted Heart”\, “Vidalia” and many other milestones. Growing up in Kaplan\, Louisiana\, Kershaw was enthralled with the masters at an early age – names like Conway Twitty\, Mel Street\, and George Jones. In fact\, as a teenager\, Kershaw had developed such a reputation for his vocals – even then – that he was often called upon to open for those acts\, and others like them. Jones was so impressed with Sammy that he frequently invited him to perform on his shows whenever he was playing in the region. \n—\nFrom the time that he released his debut single for Mercury Records\, “Cadillac Style\,” critics and fans all made the comparison to George. Rather than run from them\, Kershaw embraced them. After all\, that stone Country sound was what Sammy Kershaw was all about – and that’s what he was going to give his fans! “Cadillac Style” made it up the Billboard charts and\, from there (to quote Jones)\, the race was on! Follow-ups such as “Don’t Go Near the Water” and “I Can’t Reach Her Anymore” established him as one of the finest traditional artists of his time\, while records like “Yard Sale” showed that haunting Jones influence was very much a part of everything he is about. In 1993\, Sammy Kershaw topped the singles chart with “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful\,” which has become one of the most-played records at Country Radio over the past three decades. Albums such as Don’t Go Near the Water and Haunted Heart were both certified as million-sellers by the RIAA\, and only continued to add to his stature. The hits kept coming on the airwaves\, as well. He added to his resume such classics as “I Can’t Reach Her Anymore\,” “Meant to Be\,” his cover of The Amazing Rhythm Aces’ “Third Rate Romance\,” and 1998’s “Love of My Life\,” which cemented his reputation as a balladeer. —\nKershaw’s chain of major hit records continues to sell-out shows and can be found touring on the road – both on his own as well as part of his successful Roots & Boots Tour with Collin Raye and Aaron Tippin.
