Pianist Ari Nahum has been collaborating with bassist Jim Pacala for the past 17 years and will be joined by the sensitive\, prominent Twin Cities drummer Ken Goldman.\n—The Jazzologists are a jazz ensemble born in the halls of Regions Hospital in Saint Paul\, Minnesota\, where five physicians first came together to play music in the lobby during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the hospital eerily quiet amid shutdowns\, Stephen Jackson (trumpet)\, Ashish Mahajan (saxophone)\, Ari Nahum (piano)\, Judson Pollock (bass)\, and Scott Loewenstein (drums) discovered that playing together offered a creative outlet they sorely needed. What began as informal sessions to fill the silence has since evolved into a serious musical collaboration\, with the group deepening their commitment to the craft. Blending classic rock\, indie\, and alternative influences\, they play a mix of covers and original material\, focusing on strong live energy and evolving songwriting. \n\n \nSince starting to perform in January\, they’ve played venues across Minneapolis and St. Paul\, quickly building a growing local following. The band plans to record their first demos this summer\, including original tracks like Juicy Lucyand Minnesota Lakes\, which lean into symbolic and metaphorical storytelling. \n\n \nStill early in their run\, Tainted Canyon is focused on developing their sound and establishing themselves in the local scene.\n\n\n—YES WE ARE is a genre-blending band creating songs that embrace the full spectrum of the human experience. The band is fronted by vocalist Dylan Bode and multi-instrumentalist Reed Knutsen\, who work hand in hand to write and compose the music and lyrics. \n\n \nThe music they create channels different perspectives and emotions\, acknowledging all that we are as individuals – yes we are kind\, yes we are mean\, yes we are happy\, yes we are sad\, we can be helpful\, and we can also hurt each other. \n\n \nTheir debut EP\, Into This Garden\, released on November 14\, 2025. It’s an initial statement from the band that their music creates a place where everybody is welcome. The album uses the metaphors of garden themes to take the listener along a path of important personal moments to reach a place of belonging.

With influences ranging from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits\, the band is converting audiences one show at a time\, from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe.\n \nMuch like the music\, the story spurns era\, expectation\, and classification. The often unbelievable\, sometimes harrowing\, and wholly inspiring journey of Davina Sowers gave birth to her eponymous band Davina and The Vagabonds in 2004. As the tale goes\, she grew up in the economically depressed Allegheny town of Altoona\, PA\, which she now describes as “awesome in the industrial era\, but horrible for high school.” She was adopted by her much older stepfather when he was in his 80s; he passed away when she was just 13. Through him and his Edison phonograph\, she first heard The Ink Spots\, Sidney Bechet\, Louis Armstrong and Louis Prima\, Sister Rosetta Tharpe\, and many others. “Great man. He was my angel and still is\,” she says.\n \nOn her own\, she vividly recalls hours in front of the record player where she religiously spun Led Zeppelin\, Black Sabbath\, and Simon and Garfunkel records belonging to her folk singer mom.\n \nTo this day\, Davina still refers to music as “my first and eternal love.” Despite early dalliances with classical piano and guitar\, she developed a heavy drug habit in high school\, which morphed into heroin dependency\, left her homeless\, sent her in and out of jail\, and brought on all manner of trouble. Kicking dope on the streets\, she “got clean\, started the band\, and worked [her] ass off every day since.”\n \nDavina and the Vagabonds shine every time they play. To date\, they’ve performed in forty-five states\, twelve European countries\, and two Canadian provinces. A devoted acolyte of the celebrated guitarist Stéphane Wrembel\, Ryan’s music is rooted in the spirit of Django Reinhardt\, yet the quartet often ventures into other old world and new world musical landscapes.\n—\nPatrick Harison is a young American button accordionist adept in a wide variety of settings and genres. He currently resides in Minneapolis\, MN performing in a diverse array of projects including Patty and The Buttons\, Eisner’s Klezmorim\, Rogue Tango and many others. Patrick is also active as an orchestral soloist playing both classical and pops programs with top orchestras across the United States under the baton of luminaries such as Doc Severinsen and Sarah Hicks. When not performing\, he is an in demand composer\, session musician\, educator and arranger. —\nSam Skavnak is a Twin Cities based multi-instrumentalist specializing in reed instruments and all manner of pre-1950s music\, especially that of New Orleans and Chicago. He was fortunate enough to have learned a great deal of the craft from local jazz historian and clarinetist Tony Balluff as well as soprano saxophonist Henry Blackburn and founding Hall Brothers Jazz band member Charlie Devore. Sam plays with a wide variety of groups all over town – Mumblin’ Drew’s Oldfangled Orchestraters (MOO)\, the St. Peter Street Stompers\, and the Monday Club\,not to mention the odd appearance with the Mill City Hot Club\, Debbie Briggs Vintage Jazz and the Southside Aces. —\n\nReynold Trio\nReynold D. Philipsek has been a professional musician since he was fourteen years old. He has appeared on nearly fifty recordings either under his own name or in support of other artists. A versatile and accomplished musician\, he has performed with some of the Twin Cities’ most respected groups across a wide range of genres\, bringing a deep groove and strong musical foundation to every stage—\nClearwater Hot Club\nThe Clearwater Hot Club is a dedicated to preserving the repertoire and instrumentation of the Jazz Manouche style pioneered by Roma jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.  Much of the repertoire played in this group are songs either performed or written by Django Reinhardt\, though other styles of music such as French Musette\, Brazilian choro\, and Eastern European folk music are interpreted through the musical lens and technique of the Jazz Manouche style. In recent years Sam Miltich has written original works of music in the jazz manouche style\, giving credence to the roots and traditions of the music while bringing a fresh new voice to it.  \n—\nThe Red Hot Django Peppers\nThe Red Hot Django Peppers are a fiery Twin Cities–based Hot Club band keeping the spirit of Django Reinhardt alive while adding their own spark to the tradition. A childhood passion for Country\, Doo-Wop\, and Rhythm & Blues 45s led Sandy (born Robert Williams) to pursue a singing career as a teenager\, beginning a life in music that continues decades later. The band’s name came to Hinnefeld in a dream\, before their first gig\, reflecting the cosmic\, boundary-breaking sound they’d soon deliver. While most Americans are too busy trying to refinance their souls or Googling “Is the world ending or am I just dehydrated?” Cliff is out here using stand-up comedy like it’s a church bulletin soaked in gasoline and lit with purpose.\n \nHe’s not “just a comedian.” He’s a southern-fried truth grenade with a mic. A Carolina exorcist calling the demons out by name—racism\, misogyny\, theocracy\, white supremacy\, Hobby Lobby coupons—and dropping punchlines with lethal precision”. – Closer to The Edge \n \nCliff Cash hit his first open mic in 2011 at the age of 31. He didn’t miss a Thursday open mic after that for about a year.
