They genre hop from dreamy folk-pop to swampy psychedelic grooves to a grunge-meets-late-sixties vibe\, crafting musical gems that value energy\, animal intelligence\, poetry\, and mischief. \nPorcupine was born in 2006 in La Crosse\, Wis.\, where singer / guitarist Casey Virock had previously launched another indie rock trio\, Space Bike. Now based in Minneapolis\, the band has evolved to full maturity\, a potent force propelled by drummer Keith Larson and the most recent additions to the band\, guitarist / vocalist Nick Roesler and bassist Chad Haugejorden.

My musical influences range from artists and bands like Def Leopard\, Pearl Jam\, and Paula Abdul to Amos Lee\, Martin Sexton\, Stevie Wonder\, Leon Bridges\, and many in between. I love a vocal and lyric that can break your heart as well as a tasty melody that gets stuck in your head for days at a time. A rip-roaring guitar solo has its place as well. \n​\nI write and perform so that I can connect with the listener. I strive to create moments in a song or a set where people feel that I wrote that chorus or verse specifically for them. I look around me for inspiration to bring to song and stage. Some songs are ripped directly from my day to day and past. Other songs are built from the people I get to experience in the community around me. \n​\nWhen I get to the stage whether by myself or with the band\, I look for those moments to build connection. It’s also no secret that I gage success by tears. Either from reflection and experiencing a balm to the soul\, or from laughter from the banter and commentary between songs. Most of the music that can be heard from me and the band is original\, however\, there are a few tasty covers that we have reimagined and built with our own emotion and flavor. \n​\nMy Grandma’s Cardigan:My Grandma’s Cardigan is a folk rock group that came together in the heart of Winona\, MN. What started as a folk duo jamming in a living room\, has grown into a great group of friends that love playing music together. Each member comes from a deep experience performing solo and/or with bands\, and they each bring their multiple talents to the songwriting table.They pull their love for 90s rock\, emo\, and folk-rock to make a unique\, moody sound. Influences come from the likes of Wolf Alice\, Smashing Pumpkins\, and Fleetwood Mac.  \n \nBad Posture Club is a Minneapolis-based folk duo made up of Maren Day and Morgan Kavanagh. Their songwriting explores themes of home-places\, memory\, and family\, finding inspiration in the strange relationship between human softness and the unyielding societal structures we both participate in\, and push against. Their songs are purposefully open and sparse\, crafting intricate and experimental harmonies through voice\, banjo\, guitar\, and sometimes a 100-year-old pump organ. \n\nMinneapolis’ Rabeca never stays in one place for too long—each song meanders from meditative solos to upbeat drum shuffles and rich chordal harmonies. The quintet first joined forces for a living room cabaret performance in 2019 and have since melded their unique musical tastes into a hearty musical stew. Drawing on their individual backgrounds in jazz big band\, madrigal singing\, and jam bands\, Rabeca fuses improvised solos with catchy hooks. Their debut album Potluck (2020) captures the band’s playful energy and love for a good meal. Rabeca is Alex (keys)\, Anna (saxophone)\, Colleen (guitar)\, David (bass)\, and Satchel (drums).

Their music has the swampy feel of North Mississippi hill country blues à la Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside\, with a good dose of snarling garage punk tossed into the mix. While the band would sometimes expand into a trio\, they record the bulk of their work as a two-piece\, and the tough\, funky roar of their music arrives fully formed on their 2006 debut Gettin’ Down on It. Left Lane Cruiser stay true to their sledgehammer take on garage-infused blues\, even when they partnered with James Leg on 2012’s Painkillers\, added an electric skateboard on 2015’s Dirty Spliff Blues\, or brought in a keyboard player for 2017’s Claw Machine Wizard. https://www.facebook.com/leftlanecruiserband/\n \nKent Burnside\nKent Burnside was born into the blues. Kent Burnside was born in 1971 in Memphis Tennessee\, and spent his early years in Holly Springs\, Mississippi. He is the oldest Grandson and one of the closest pupils of the legendary R.L. Burnside. Kent first heard the blues while watching his grandfather R.L. perform on the family farm to the locals. Kent used to sell sandwiches to audience members for a dollar a piece during these performances. The first lesson RL taught Kent was that to be a bluesman you have to find your own rhythm on the guitar. You can’t play someone else’s rhythm – as rhythm comes from your heart. It started with Buddy Guy. Kent got his real start in the music business playing with Jimbo Mathus (Fat Possum Records) and going on tour with Buddy Guy in the early 2000’s. With influences ranging from the Byrds\, Neil Young\, Petty\, X\, and Link Wray\, the group’s original “cosmic folk” has cycled back to a more rocking sound in recent years. The group performs all around Minnesota and beyond and has been invited to share the stage with such notable acts as the Minus 5\, the Jayhawks\, and Trampled By Turtles.
