SUMMARY:The Minnesota Musicians Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nThe Hook AND LADDER THEATER \n\nDoors: 7:00pm \nMusic: 7:30pm\n21+\nGA*: $5 EARLY / $10 ADV / $15 DOS\n\n*Does not include feesNO REFUNDS \n\n COVID-19 Policies\n \n\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nMinnesota Music Coalition & The Hook and Ladder Presents:\nThe Minnesota Musicians Concert Series\nDiane\, Cindy Lawson\, & Junior Choir\n\n\nHook & Ladder Theater and Minnesota Music Coalition come together to feature amazing Minnesota talent across a variety of genres. Join us monthly (Every 4th Thursday) to catch some of your favorites as well as some musicians you may not have seen yet!\n \nDiane is an alternative hip-hop\, rock and folk musician and radio DJ/producer living in Minneapolis. Her latest EP “Earth To Diane” is an eclectic hip-hop record that features a range of themes and messages: from angst to love\, contemplation to humor\, self-confidence to self-deprecation. The self-released 2022 album features flagship Minnesota artists including HALEY\, Dosh\, and Greg Schutte. Star Tribune music critic Chris Riemenschnieder wrote: ” She was born on a now mostly abandoned island in the middle of the Bering Sea. Which makes it even more impressive the way Diane Miller bridges different music genres and job titles these days near the center of North America.” \nSince moving to Minneapolis from Fargo-Moorhead in 2018\, Diane has become a fixture in the local scene. 2021 was especially a year of accomplishments. She was named host/producer of The Local Show powered by MPR’s The Current; wrapped up her artist fellowship year with the McKnight Foundation; co-emceed the bluegrass festival Blue Ox headlined by Jason Isbell; performed for a Minnesota Lynx WNBA Halftime Show; headlined the local music stage at Basilica Block Party; and served as an artist-in-residence at Bunnell Street Arts Center in Homer\, Alaska. \n \nCindy Lawson began her rock and roll career in Minneapolis in 1985 with her all-female rock band\, The Clams. Over the years she’s played in several bands in Minneapolis and New York City\, but then took a break starting in the late 90’s. She returned in full force with a new band in 2021 and has been playing to enthusiastic Twin Cities audiences. Her latest record\, New Tricks\, available on Boston’s Rum Bar Records\, has been getting airplay both nationally (on Little Steven’s Underground Garage and Little Steven’s Coolest Songs in the World) and internationally\, garnering rave reviews in publications across the globe.\n \nJunior Choir is an American alternative/post-punk rock band\, formed in the Twin Cities (Minnesota)\, United States\, in 2019. The band is composed of Jesse Baker (vocals\, guitar)\, Jacob Carlson (vocals\, guitar)\, Ben Wilson (bass)\, and Ryan Waldemarson (vocals\, drums). The band was originally mostly a solo project undertaken by Jesse Baker and Ben Wilson\, recording in Ben’s home studio in St. Paul\, Minnesota. They realized that the music they were creating needed to be shared with the world\, and after a few months welcomed drummer Ryan Waldemarson into the band. As they began assembling a larger catalog\, their songwriting and recording accelerated\, and guitarist Jake Carlson was added to finalize the lineup of the band.  \nIn late 2019\, they released their debut record Light & Dark EP\, in the summer of 2020\, they released The Plans We Made EP\, and released their third EP Don’t Mention It in early 2021. \n \n===== \nThe only statewide nonprofit devoted exclusively to serving our independent musicians\, the Minnesota Music Coalition (MMC) is responsible for providing resources\, support and paid performance opportunities to artists of all genres. \n====== \n \nDIANE\nWebsite: dianeraps.com\nInstagram: @dianealsorapsFacebook: @dianerapzTwitter: @dianerapz\n \nCINDY LAWSON\nWebsite: cindysongs.comFacebook: https://m.facebook.com/CindyLawsonSongs/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cindy.lawson/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYfc4U-mQHSfQIBu8kL0rlw/featured\n \nJUNIOR CHOIR\nWebsite: https://juniorchoir.com/\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/JuniorChoirBand/Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3pDUmyxJXP4vOhRoHYhIKDYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMZxnIDXw8eDK4LD4nVo_XAInstagram: @juniorchoir\n\n

Salgado is famed not only for his powerhouse live shows and ten previous albums\, but also for his passionate and insightful original songs.\n \nFormer co-leader of The Robert Cray Band\, he has been nominated three times for the Blues Music Award for Song Of The Year; winning in 2018 for Walk A Mile In My Blues from The Beautiful Lowdown. In total\, he has won nine Blues Music Awards\, including the B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year award. Intricate but free-swinging\, explosive yet intimate\, fresh and green as grass. Taking cues from the dance bands of western Louisiana (and his native Midwest)\, the streets (and 45’s) of New Orleans\, touring African and Caribbean combos and the soul\, funk & blues of his youth coupled with early\, teeth-cutting experience in the verbal hotbeds of  the coffeehouse scene\, Paul Cebar is a masterful synthesist of rhythmic culture.\n \nCaballo Cósmico is a musical journey into a new genre “Mexican Americana – it’s rock n’ roll on the radio\, with tortillas on the table.”  Founded by Javier Trejo\, a singer-songwriter from Coahuila\, Mexico and raised in St. Paul’s Westside\, Caballo Cósmico is built upon world beat musical influences. Include the gothic-pop sensibilities of early Cult and The Cure and BRB does some very creative dusting off\, updating and recreation of this early “alternative magic”.  The soulful vocal delivery is a standout feature of the songs – one that instantly and immediately recognizable\, and sets the music apart from most others.\nFans of a whole new breed of bands such as Drab Majesty\, Actors\, Twin Tribes and Creux Lies will enjoy the extremely soulful vocals\, unique grooves and top level instrumentation captured here. Described as “postgothic-earworms”\, BRB creates mini stories within each unique song – and memorable chorus’ are plentiful.\nBoth albums were recorded in George’s own studio\, PV Recording Company\, which has over the years hosted a wide variety of acts and artists including:  Voltaire (with whom he played bass for 10 years)\, Nellie McKay\, Chibi (The Birthday Party Massacre)\, Emelio Zeff China (Peter Murphy)\, Knox Chandler (Siouxie And The Banshees) Julia Marcel\,Paul Bakija (Reagan Youth) and Ego Likeness. \n \nThe latest record – and sophomore album “The Wheel” takes the sound to delirious new levels in terms of songwriting and composition.  \n \n\n\n\n\n

Join us monthly (Every 4th Thursday) to catch some of your favorites as well as some musicians you may not have seen yet!\n \nSince forming in northeast Minneapolis in 2006\, The High 48s have been making music that combines the soulful sound of classic bluegrass with a modern attitude. They’re a band with one foot in tradition and the other in the world of music today\, and one of the few who can find an overlooked bluegrass classic in a song by M. Ward or the Clash then throw down hard on a standard by Bill Monroe. \nThe High 48s are also a band of songwriters. Here\, too\, they take a modern approach\, heeding the well-worn advice to writers: write what you know. Their songs ring true to their everyday lives as northern city-folk rather than an imagined “sweet\, sunny south” of coal mines and dark hollers.\n \nEli Gardiner was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He started to write songs while still in high school. Making stops in Iowa and Virginia before making his way to the Twin Cities. His latest album\, The Fire and The Medicine\, was produced and recorded with Greg Schutte (Mickey Hart\, Ryan Bingham\, Chastity Brown) His music has been featured on The Current\, WCCO radio\, and BOB Country\, among others.\n \n“Eli Gardiner has a voice that conveys the pieces inside of us that can’t always speak. Relatable\, soulful\, and honest\, his songwriting is structured in observations. He’s a modern voice to old problems that continue to haunt our society.”-Music In Minnesota \n “It showcases excellent guitar work\, complementing Gardiner’s fine vocal\, which is full of character and soul. ”— Americana UK\n \nMembers Tony Ortiz (guitar\, vocals)\, Rosa Gaona (vocals)\, Randy Wideman (guitar\, vocals) and Cathy Pineiro (vocals) are all mainstays of the Minnesota music scene and together craft an infectious\, soul-infused Americana. When The 4 Corners sing together\, their voices – each with a distinctive timbre and complementary range – blend in a flavorful way\, forming a soulful sound that is both distinctive and familiar.\n\n \nTHE HIGH 48s\nWebsite: https://thehigh48s.com/\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehigh48s\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thehigh48s/\nTwitter: https://twitter.com/TheHigh48s\nYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/thehigh48s\n \nELI GARDINER\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/eliandthewolves\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/eli.gardiner/\n \nTHE 4 CORNERS\nWebsite: https://4cornersband.net/
