The Combo will be performing a FULL night of music from these two iconic funk artists. \nWorld renowned Dr. Mambo’s Combo has been performing weekly at Bunkers Music Bar & Grill since 1987 — one of the longest running weekly residencies anywhere in America. The band quickly became Prince’s favorite — playing soul\, rock\, and r&b music with unmatched passion and fire – and audiences have flocked to their weekly performances ever since. In addition to Prince\, many national touring artists often stop by to sit in with the band after their own show —including John Mayer\, Sheila E\, Questlove\, Stokley\, Larry Graham\, and Bonnie Raitt. \nDr. Mambo’s Combo’s ‘Let Me Have it All’ features a diverse collection of songs across the many eras and styles of these amazing trendsetting artists. Sly Stone rose to popularity with Woodstock era hits ‘Everyday People’ & ‘I Want to Take You Higher’\, and took a surprise turn in the early 70’s with the genre defining funk of ‘Family Affair’ and ‘If You Want Me to Stay’. \n\nRufus and Chaka Khan were one of the most popular and influential funk bands of the 1970s\, with four consecutive number-one R&B albums\, ten top 40 pop hits and five number-one R&B singles including ‘Tell Me Something Good’\, ‘Sweet Thing’ and ‘Ain’t Nobody’.\n \n\nThe current band lineup features Julius Collins and Margaret Cox on lead vocals\, Sonny Thompson on bass\, Brian Ziemniak on keys\, Geoff LeCrone on guitar and Peter Suttman on drums. Joining the band for this special performance are The Bangbang Horns (Peter Vircks & Riley Helgeson). \n\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nThank you to our sponsors\, partners\, & neighbors: \n\nSummit Brewing • DuNord Social Spirits • RKR Ganja Beverages • Nobool Presents • KFAI 90.3FM • Mpls.St.Paul Magazine • The Zen Arcade • Longfellow Rising • Lake Street Council • Minnesota State Arts Board • Moon Palace Books • Arbeiter Brewing\n\n \nThe Award-Winning* Under the Canopy series at The Hook & Ladder Theater returns with its uniquely seasonal urban footprint to the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis in 2025. *Voted Best in MN 2021 by Star Tribune readers.\n \nThe Hook has committed to having a food truck Under the Canopy throughout the 2025 season for our guests. Come hungry and enjoy dinner with the show!

They have collaborated with artists including Freddy Fender\, Alan Jackson\, Jimmy Buffett\, and Dolly Parton.\n \nThey arrived on the national music scene in 1974\, when fellow Florida Artists Hall of Fame member Jim Stafford recorded and co-wrote “Spiders and Snakes” with David Bellamy. “Spiders and Snakes” hit number three on the Billboard charts\, and The Bellamy Brothers signed with Curb records in 1976. Later that same year\, “Let Your Love Flow” hit number one in the United States pop charts as well as in more than a dozen countries.\n \nThey soon moved towards the country music genre and “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It against Me” became the first of twenty number one hit country singles in the years to follow\, along with more than fifty hits overall on the charts. Their international releases include more than 95 albums.\n \nPerhaps the first of the now-common Country Duo genre acts\, The Bellamy Brothers received Grammy nominations for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group and Best Country and Western Song in 1980. Named Top Country Duo in 1982 by Billboard\, they also have more nominations in the duo category from the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association than any other artists\, inspiring and paving the way for artists such as Brooks and Dunn\, Montgomery Gentry and The Judds.\n\n—\nFor questions\, email us at medina@medinaentertainment.com or call us at 763-478-6661.Ticket price does not include a facility fee\, sales tax or service fees. All dates\, prices\, times and bands are subject to change.
