One funny a$$ night. Bring a date\, bring your crew\, or come alone. Grab your tickets before they sell out!\n \n\nIra Ford\, from Maryland\, was a lyricist before he followed his passion of comedy. He was always amazed at how a comedian could hold so many people’s attention. Now based in Minneapolis\, he is an open book who talks about life experiences ranging from drugs to family. He unapologetically says what he thinks. His unique and hilarious stories earned him a semifinalist finish at The Funniest Person with a Day Job Contest at Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy\, and had his own wildly popular monthly showcase which he hosted and curates “Laughs and Legends” at Lakes and Legends Brewery in downtown Minneapolis. He is currently a paid regular emcee at the hottest comedy club in Minnesota Acme Comedy Company.\n\n\nEll-Emaj Hill\, an up & coming Minneapolis based stand up. Now he has returned home to join in the battle against landlocked nepotism. Will he prevail? Or nah.\n \nMahdi Gotti is an up and coming stand-up comedian with a story telling style of comedy from North Minneapolis . He is a regular at MNCS that takes place at the Spring Street Tavern. When Mahdi is not on stage\, you can find him applying for jobs he’s 100% not qualified for. Look them up!\n \nDaryl Horner from Minneapolis MN by way of Daleville Alabama\, uses nearly 30 years in entertainment to give a varied performance every night. No two shows are ever alike but every one is a  mix of wholesome nostalgia combined with the “for mature audiences only” antics of a man who missed the bus to adulthood.\n \nJohn X Yo\, check it: Meet John X\, the comedic boss of the block. With a rap sheet of wild escapades and a knack for flipping life’s struggles into straight-up jokes\, he s the don of humor. Roll with him and prepare to crack up\, no cap!

SUMMARY:'Classical Rock Piano' with Debbie Center
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nThe mission room at The Hook and Ladder Theater \n\nDoors 6:30pm :: Music 7:30pm \n21+ \nGeneral Admission: $15 Advance / $20 Day of Show\n \n\n\n*Does not include feesNO REFUNDS \n\n COVID-19 Policies\n \n\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n‘Classical Rock Piano’ with Debbie Center\n  \n\n\n\nDebbie Center coined the term “Classical Rock Pianist” to describe her unique blend of a lifetime of classical training with her deep passion for improvisation\, creating soul-stirring interpretations of classic and psychedelic rock music. Debbie Center is known for her signature #classicalrock grooves\, reworking classic rock tunes into symphonies for two hands on her piano. Some of her favorites are the Grateful Dead\, Beatles\, Jethro Tull\, Led Zeppelin\, Queen\, Moody Blues\, Stevie Wonder\, Elton John\, Billy Joel\, and many more. She performs with numerous other musicians throughout Minnesota in addition to her solo piano concerts. Debbie also composes original piano music inspired by the wildlife\, scenery\, and northern lights of her beloved home in Nevis\, Minnesota. \n“Debbie Center is one of my favorite musicians to work with. She always has such amazing energy and it shines wildly through her music. Classical piano roots to improvisation of the highest accord. It’s very rare to find both qualities in a musician and usually it’s one or the other\, Debbie does both with ease. Her kind and positive attitude paired with her musical ability also continues to elevate her into new musical heights\, I’m excited to see where her musical journey will lead! I’m a big fan.”  – Mark Joseph (The Big Wu / The Dire Wolves)

The tune features Alison Brown on banjo\, Todd Phillips on bass and Mike Bub on bass. \n \nIn 2020\, Missy received the IBMA Song of the Year award along with co-writers\, Becky Buller and Alison Brown for “Chicago Barn Dance”\, a song written specifically for the Chicago-based band\, Special Consensus. \n—\n\nThe Lake Monsters are friends from many bluegrass and other acoustic music bands in the area that got together for a house gig in the summer of 2023. At the end of the summer they were having so much fun they decided to keep it going. “The idea is simple\, straight ahead classic bluegrass – songs we all know and play together when we’re just jamming and doing it just for the fun of it.” It is more the rule than the exception that at any time\, any number of the best players from the top bluegrass acts in the area either sub in or make a guest appearance. In that respect it is more of a “collective” of bluegrass musicians. \n \nJohn Bodle – is a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist and bluegrass historian. He has played in numerous Twin Cities area bands including Ivory Bridge\, The Mark Kreitzer Band\, and LaPlant Road. \n \nBrent Fuqua – is originally from Kansas City and is a lifelong practitioner and student of Americana\, Folk and Bluegrass. He has been working as a mandolin player in the Minneapolis area for the last 10 years. Among the acts has worked with are Mother Banjo\, Blue Groove\, The Tony Rook Band\, Mashtun\, The Fisheads\, and Derek Johnson & Hardgrass. \n\n \nMarty Marrone – is originally from the Chicago area and toured for years as a member of national bluegrass band Special Consensus. Since moving to Minneapolis he had his own band Tangled Roots\, and spent years as the lead singer and guitarist in The High 48’s. He also plays in The Pale Ales Bluegrass Band. \n \nRina Rossi is a stalwart in the Old Time Music and square dance scene in the area. She and her husband AJ Srubas have a popular band Steam Machine and formerly were founding members of Back Up & Push.\n \n\nTom Schaefer is ubiquitous. If there’s a fiddle needed in any situation it’s likely him. Some of Tom’s more recent acts are Honky Tonk Jump\, Mashtun\, The Mark Kreitzer Band. He also appears with many national acts that come through town.

On her new album\, Not Over This Yet\, Mahal is ready to confront the past with brutal honesty and tender consideration. The ten tracks play out like thumbing through a photo album\, some snapshots burnt at the edges\, blurry and overexposed\, others are intricately framed\, capturing first impressions of what has grown into a golden-light love. Her latest singles have earned her placements on both Apple Music and Amazon playlists\, and the album has garnered attention from the likes of Under The Radar and Consequence of Sound\, who wrote\, “it feels as though she’s stepped into some of her own power.” \n\n \nPoolboy is an indie rock band from Minneapolis. They formed in 2015 and released their self-produced EP in February of 2016\, which Andrea Swenson of The Current called\, “An impressive debut.” In 2017\, they were named City Pages’ Best New Band.\nTheir newest five song EP\, Good Orchard\, was released in 2021 and represents a course change for the group that explores themes of existential fatigue\, intimacy\, and personal growth through dynamic lyricism placed within a vibrant and melodic soundscape.\nGood Orchard was engineered\, produced\, and mixed by Con Davison (Wingman\, Bad Bad Hats) and mastered by Huntley Miller (Bon Iver\, Sylvan Esso). \n\n

Don’t miss it! \n\n \nIn a time where transgender people are being targeted and further marginalized by expansive overreach of local\, state and national politicians\, Dina Nina brings hope and joy with with the return of “Born Loud” a comedic storytelling of Dina Nina’s life and journey to finding self love. The show is full of humorous anecdotes\, childhood\, and the numerous coming out periods of her journey. Dina Nina Martinez\, the transgender stand-up comedian and actor praised by James Corden\, wows with her blend of sass and charm. She’s been featured in top comedy festivals and venues like LA Pride\, The Comedy Store\, and Zanies Comedy Club. Dina Nina Martinez is a comedic powerhouse\, spreading laughter and love worldwide. \n\n \n\nGrowing up in rural Wisconsin during the week and Minneapolis on the weekend\, allowed Sarah the perspective that people lived life very differently from one another. This city mouse\, country mouse existence provided a unique lens for commentary and it brought out the natural storyteller in Sarah. A ten-year stint as a blackjack dealer gave Sarah a captive audience to hone her comedy chops. One day she looked at the smoke-filled walls and noisy slot machines and said goodbye. She turned in her apron and decided to bet on herself and become a comedian.  At the same time\, she decided to pursue this dream she also decided to pursue her dream of being a lesbian. Go for broke\, as they say. Sarah is also an advocate for LGBTQ rights\, produces many shows to further queer content and to bring inclusion to the media.

Music and discussion will be guided by songwriter LAAMAR with notable Minneapolis fellow songwriters HALEY\, Peter Miller\, and The Nunnery.\n \nLAAMAR is the latest project led by Minneapolis-based singer\, songwriter\, saxophonist\, and composer Geoffrey Lamar Wilson. Former frontman of Brooklyn-based Jus Post Bellum\, Wilson is also known for his multilayered looped saxophone performances and catchy podcast ditties. This latest project blends his idiomatic inspirations bridging Folk\, Soul\, R&B\, and Country with a constant ear toward issues of racial and social justice\, and the shared human experience. \n\n \nHALEY:\nHaley has released 10 albums\, toured internationally\, is a mother of two children\, has 3 cats\, and lives in St. Paul\, MN.  \n\n \nPeter Miller (We Are the Willows):We Are The Willows is the project of Minneapolis based singer/ songwriter/ producer Peter Miller. We are the willows crafts dynamic songs with a contemplative air.  The songs cover a lot of conceptual ground: from family history to modern social life and personal identity. Peter will be performing solo for this show.\n \nThe Nunnery:\nThe Nunnery (Sarah Elstran) is an independent musician that bridges the gap between bright-eyed pop composition and hands-on atmospheric live layering of voice. Her vocal loops give us the kind of detail and wide multi-octave range that we might come to expect from a marquee pop star\, while her production decisions continually keep us guessing as to what rabbit holes her tracks might fall into next.

When not writing and recording here in the Gopher State\, Dave resides in Hamilton\, Ontario where he fronts the popular rock group Teenage Head along with several other projects – The Shakers and Dave Rave & The Second Responders among them.\n \nAs a Minnesota music fan\, singer/bassist and live sound engineer\, Scott Allen has had a unique exposure to Minnesota music and the artists performing it. On the bass and backing vocals\, he’s played in bands with songwriters like Tom Mason\, Mark Hasbrouch (Surahoolies)\, Phil Solem (The Rembrandts)\, Aaron Seymour (The Delilahs)\, Melvin James (Planet Melvin) and countless others. Scott has also done much fill in work on bass as well\, including groups like The Billys\, Tim Mahoney\, Scott Laurent Band\, Rhythm Jones\, The Phones\, Mile One\, The Kurt Neumann Band (BoDeans)\, Test Site 67\, Rex Daisy’s alter-ego band Two Tickets To Paradise\,  and Patrik Tanner & The Faraway Men.\n \n\nCurrently\, in addition to recently releasing an album of original music\, Scott sings lead vocals for a popular local Talking Heads tribute Slippery People  and 70s throwback group Band On The Rocks.\n\n

The band just brought on Michael Leggs as Lead Singer with the core rhythm section of Eric and Dog attempting to hold down the tightrope act of Bleem on Lead guitar. \nStreet HassleA refreshing throwback to the Twin Cities early punk scene that spawned the likes of Man Sized Action & Rifle Sport\, Street Hassle’s sound is straight-up adult urban angst\, as fueled by singer James Ho’s poetic howlings and guitarists Tony Nelson & Buck Doss’ slivery riffs. Formed in 1999\, these guys are that rare live band that thrives on a mix of spontaneity\, unpredictability\, and raw expression  \n\nThe 99ers are a pop/punk band from Minneapolis.   Their musical philosophy is simple – BANG IT OUT\, KEEP IT SHORT & NO MESSING ABOUT!!
