Blending classic rock\, indie\, and alternative influences\, they play a mix of covers and original material\, focusing on strong live energy and evolving songwriting. \n\n \nSince starting to perform in January\, they’ve played venues across Minneapolis and St. Paul\, quickly building a growing local following. The band plans to record their first demos this summer\, including original tracks like Juicy Lucyand Minnesota Lakes\, which lean into symbolic and metaphorical storytelling. \n\n \nStill early in their run\, Tainted Canyon is focused on developing their sound and establishing themselves in the local scene.\n\n\n—YES WE ARE is a genre-blending band creating songs that embrace the full spectrum of the human experience. The band is fronted by vocalist Dylan Bode and multi-instrumentalist Reed Knutsen\, who work hand in hand to write and compose the music and lyrics. \n\n \nThe music they create channels different perspectives and emotions\, acknowledging all that we are as individuals – yes we are kind\, yes we are mean\, yes we are happy\, yes we are sad\, we can be helpful\, and we can also hurt each other. \n\n \nTheir debut EP\, Into This Garden\, released on November 14\, 2025. It’s an initial statement from the band that their music creates a place where everybody is welcome. The album uses the metaphors of garden themes to take the listener along a path of important personal moments to reach a place of belonging.

With influences ranging from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits\, the band is converting audiences one show at a time\, from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe.\n \nMuch like the music\, the story spurns era\, expectation\, and classification. The often unbelievable\, sometimes harrowing\, and wholly inspiring journey of Davina Sowers gave birth to her eponymous band Davina and The Vagabonds in 2004. As the tale goes\, she grew up in the economically depressed Allegheny town of Altoona\, PA\, which she now describes as “awesome in the industrial era\, but horrible for high school.” She was adopted by her much older stepfather when he was in his 80s; he passed away when she was just 13. Through him and his Edison phonograph\, she first heard The Ink Spots\, Sidney Bechet\, Louis Armstrong and Louis Prima\, Sister Rosetta Tharpe\, and many others. “Great man. He was my angel and still is\,” she says.\n \nOn her own\, she vividly recalls hours in front of the record player where she religiously spun Led Zeppelin\, Black Sabbath\, and Simon and Garfunkel records belonging to her folk singer mom.\n \nTo this day\, Davina still refers to music as “my first and eternal love.” Despite early dalliances with classical piano and guitar\, she developed a heavy drug habit in high school\, which morphed into heroin dependency\, left her homeless\, sent her in and out of jail\, and brought on all manner of trouble. Kicking dope on the streets\, she “got clean\, started the band\, and worked [her] ass off every day since.”\n \nDavina and the Vagabonds shine every time they play. To date\, they’ve performed in forty-five states\, twelve European countries\, and two Canadian provinces. Not to mention\, they’ve earned feverish acclaim from the Chicago Tribune\, NPR\, and more in addition to performing on BBC’s international favorite late-night program Later… With Jools Holland and appearing on PBS’s Bluegrass Underground.\n \n“Davina and the Vagabonds combat heartache with sugar and sass.”  DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE\n\n \n\nThank you to our sponsors\, partners\, & neighbors: \n\n\nSummit Brewing • RKR Ganja Beverages  • Tito’s Handmade Vodka • Jameson Irish Whiskey  • High Noon • Lucky One Lemonade • Nobool Presents • The Zen Arcade  • Longfellow Rising • Lake Street Council • KFAI 90.3FM • Firehouse Perfroming Arts Center • Moon Palace Books • Arbeiter Brewing   \n\nThe Award-Winning* Under the Canopy series at The Hook & Ladder Theater returns with its uniquely seasonal urban footprint to the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis in 2025.\n \nThe Hook has committed to having a food truck Under the Canopy throughout the 2026 season for our guests. This rockin’ quartet is considered one of the torch bearers of American roots music. \n \nSince forming in 1988 in Southern California\, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys have become one of the world’s most beloved Americana/Roots acts\, drawing from the deep musical waters that flow just beneath the surface of Rock & Roll’s fertile soil. A childhood passion for Country\, Doo-Wop\, and Rhythm & Blues 45s led Sandy (born Robert Williams) to pursue a singing career as a teenager\, beginning a life in music that continues decades later. And as his personal record collection continues to grow (75\,000 and counting)\, so does the depth of the musical influences that stream through his songwriting and singing style. A critically acclaimed tribute to Tex-Mex hero Freddy Fender\, released at the beginning of the 2020 lockdown\, points the way forward for Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys as they continue on a path of musical growth. After nearly 35 years on the road\, and more than two dozen releases to their credit\, they remain key figures on the ever-changing Americana circuit\, both on record and in live appearances.\n \nExcerpt: – \nSouthern California legends Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys roll into town and return to the Hook for a swingin’ evening!  The authentic Rockabilly Hall of Fame band always delivers the goods.

The band’s name came to Hinnefeld in a dream\, before their first gig\, reflecting the cosmic\, boundary-breaking sound they’d soon deliver. Later joined by Jake Evatt on keys/vocals and Justin Clark on drums\, the Bloomington-based quartet has since evolved into one of the country’s premiere touring acts. \n\n \nCritics have called Dizgo “one of the most operative names in the jam band scene” and “Indiana’s psychedelic powerhouse\,” blending the adventurous spirit of jamtronica with the deep-pocket pulse of funk\, the warmth of soul\, explosive guitar\, and the kaleidoscopic textures of psychedelic rock. Their live shows are immersive journeys – a dance party and mind-trip rolled into one. Interweaving soulful vocals\, analog synths\, and searing guitar complete with intricate compositions and extended improvisation. The result is something both danceable and introspective: a dance floor where heads and hearts move in equal measure. \n\n \nDizgo’s touring resume reads like a true music lover’s bucket list – standout sets at Peach Music Festival\, Summer Camp\, Secret Dreams\, Domefest and Sonic Bloom\, alongside club and amphitheater performances supporting Goose\, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic\, lespecial\, Dogs in a Pile\, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong\, and more. Their 2024 studio album “Melt” crystallized their ethos: when everything locks in\, the band and the fans “melt into one collective unit\,” channeling energy between themselves and the crowd in a feedback loop of groove. \n\n \n\n\n\n\nFrom your local venue to the biggest festival stage\, Dizgo creates a communal experience – one where genre is merely a suggestion\, the band and the fans are a living organism\, and every note is a step further down the rabbit hole.—Hot Like Mars are Chicago’s funkiest\, most soulful rock band – a jam-funk quintet built on airtight grooves\, fearless improvisation\, and songs that stay with you long after the house lights come up. Fronted by vocalist/keyboardist A.P. (Anthony Perry) alongside guitarists Pat Walsh and Frankie “Lightning” Minella\, bassist Lamontè Norwood\, and drummer Wes Julien\, the band has carved out a fast-rising lane of their own\, blending classic soul and R&B textures with modern jam-band firepower and a deeply collaborative vocal sound.\n\nSince launching in late 2023\, Hot Like Mars have evolved from a buzzy hometown secret into a national touring act\, pairing online virality with a surging ticket footprint. Early Chicago milestones – a packed residency that moved more than 1\,000 tickets\, and supporting sold-out headlines at The Metro and Park West for Andy Frasco and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong – laid the foundation for an ambitious run of touring across the Midwest\, Rockies\, and East Coast. Their 2025 campaign included a breakout set at Northlands Music & Arts Festival\, a multi-date Colorado swing\, and a first-ever East Coast run capped by a sold-out night at Charleston’s Pour House\, underscoring their reputation as one of the most exciting young live bands in the jam and funk worlds.

While most Americans are too busy trying to refinance their souls or Googling “Is the world ending or am I just dehydrated?” Cliff is out here using stand-up comedy like it’s a church bulletin soaked in gasoline and lit with purpose.\n \nHe’s not “just a comedian.” He’s a southern-fried truth grenade with a mic. A Carolina exorcist calling the demons out by name—racism\, misogyny\, theocracy\, white supremacy\, Hobby Lobby coupons—and dropping punchlines with lethal precision”. – Closer to The Edge \n \nCliff Cash hit his first open mic in 2011 at the age of 31. He didn’t miss a Thursday open mic after that for about a year. Within 2 years Cliff won Port City’s Top Comic\, Comedy Central’s UpNext Regionals\, Comedy Zone’s Almost Famous and landed himself on Sirius XM. In the years that followed\, Cash racked up an impressive list of comedy credits and life scars. The highs and lows ranged from a divorce to a number one comedy album\, from the death of his father to a Dry Bar Comedy special.  \n\n\n \n\nDespite accolades like being a finalist for Standup NBC\, having two albums reach number one\, being on Laughs TV\, Rooftop Comedy and more\, Cliff was toiling away in the shadows of obscurity reluctant to take the traditional path of moving to New York or Los Angeles. Cash focused instead on honing his craft and building connections nationwide performing in nearly every state in the lower 48\, touring for months at a time\, living in a station wagon\, camping\, hiking and exploring between gigs. Many years he slept more nights under the stars than under a roof. He saw 45 of the nations 62 national parks and stumbled upon the passion of nature photography that he now sells as merch at his shows. Cliff lived in his old sprinter van for months at a time all over the U.S. and México.  \n\n \nFinally Cliff gave in to the pressure of the social media path. He decided that 2025 would be the year he finally put his energy into his long neglected online presence. In less than 6 months\, he’s grown his YouTube following from 280 subscribers to over 300\,000 and the other apps have exploded in the same way. His first *real* comedy special THE LONG ROAD debuted to high praise from fans around the world\, reached #1 on the iTunes comedy chart and has been viewed nearly 50 million times across clips and platforms. It is now available on apple\, Amazon\, tubi\, Roku and more.

\n\n \n\nDespite accolades like being a finalist for Standup NBC\, having two albums reach number one\, being on Laughs TV\, Rooftop Comedy and more\, Cliff was toiling away in the shadows of obscurity reluctant to take the traditional path of moving to New York or Los Angeles. Cliff lived in his old sprinter van for months at a time all over the U.S. and México. \n \nFinally Cliff gave in to the pressure of the social media path.
