Fronted by bassist and vocalist Kelly Ogden and guitarist Luis Cabezas\, this power duo has built a legacy of anthemic tunes\, relentless touring\, and an unwavering DIY ethos. But what sets them apart isn’t just their music—it’s their ability to balance the chaos of punk rock with raising kids that are now old enough to take the stage on their own. \nThe band has released eight studio albums and played over two thousand shows since their 2004 debut on legendary punk label Lookout! Records. The next two albums came out through Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records\, followed by several DIY\, fan-funded releases and a current alliance with Wicket Cool Records. Long a staple in rotation on Sirius/XM’s Little Steven’s Underground Garage\, the band’s consistent output perked up the ears of Wicked Cool founder Stevie Van Zandt. “Their songwriting has reached a consistent level of greatness\,” he says. \nThe Dollyrots’ sound stays rooted in the sharp hooks of classic pop punk. Growing up together in Florida\, followed by a decade-long stint in Los Angeles\, the band emerged from the L.A. punk scene with a style that blends humor\, heart\, and high-energy. Their anthem “Because I’m Awesome” has enjoyed over 2.6 million streams on Spotify while becoming a rallying cry for sarcastic self-confidence. Whether they’re singing about awkward crushes or the everyday chaos of life\, their songs always deliver a sense of fun and relatability\, reminding listeners not to take life—or themselves—too seriously. \nThe band is no stranger to success\, hitting the Billboard Heatseekers and Independent Albums charts several times and featured in movies and TV shows including “Nimona”\, “Billions”\, “The Price Is Right” along with classics such as “Easy A” and “CSI:NY”. The family vibe is infectious\, making Dollyrots shows feel less like a concert and more like a reunion with your fun\, rock n roll cousins. \nThis unconventional lifestyle has added a unique layer to The Dollyrots’ identity.  guest Derek St. Holmes\n\n—\n\nApril Wine is a Canadian rock band formed in 1969. Originally based in Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, the band enjoyed international success in the 1970s and 1980s\, releasing more than 20 albums since 1971. \n \nApril Wine’s extensive discography includes numerous gold and platinum selling albums featuring mega-hits like ‘Roller’\, ‘I Like to Rock’\, ‘You Could Have Been a Lady’ and others. Best known for their international top 40 hit ‘Just Between You And Me’\, an iconic power ballad that made them the very first Canadian band on MTV\, April Wine went on to release over twenty albums and have received a combined total of 11 Juno Award nominations in the Group Of the Year\, Album of the Year\, and Best Selling Single categories.  \n \nIn 2009\, April Wine was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and were honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for being part of Canadian Music History for 40 years\, and in 2010 the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.   \n———– \nIt all began in 1974 when Derek St. Holmes’ band Scott opened a gig for Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes. Nugent was making a name for himself around the Midwestern portion of the United States\, but thus far had been unable to take his music to the next level.  After seeing\, and hearing\, the young St. Holmes on stage\, he knew what was missing and invited Derek to join his band. Derek brought a strong set of pipes\, solid musicianship and songwriting skills to Nugent’s music\, and in March of 1975 the world was introduced to him via Nugent’s self-titled debut album.  While it was Nugent slinging down the guitar licks\, it was Derek’s voice all over FM radio singing the soon to be classics “Stranglehold\,” “Stormtroopin” and “Just What the Doctor Ordered.” In addition\, Derek wrote\, arranged and sang the classic tune “Hey Baby.” Derek quickly became regarded as one of the best voices on the international rock scene\, all at the tender age of 22 years old.  Nugent and St. Holmes continued their winning combination for three more iconic albums\, Free for All in 1976\, Cat Scratch Fever in 1977 and Double Live Gonzo in 1978.. Derek also continued his on again/off again relationship with Nugent in both the 1980s\, and ‘90s\, co-writing several songs on Ted’s comeback album Spirit of Wild in 1996. \nAfter years of Nugent fans begging Ted for Derek’s return\, St. Holmes was invited by the Motor City Madman in 2011 to once again take his place on the Nugent stage. Derek appeared on Nugent’s 2014 album ShutUp&Jam\, singing. The ensemble revives fan favorites from Cohen’s previousindependent solo albums California and Black Lake\, as well as offering new songs including her single “Let It Out” now available on Spotify. \n“The really amazing thing about working together now\, 25 years later\,” remarked Cohen\, “is that we still have this easy connection\, but everyone’s artistry has jumped up twenty/thirty-fold. It’s such a blast to hear everyone’s ideas and sink into the sound that’s being created.” \nBarbara Cohen blends musical genres from folk to electronica\, and world to modern-classical. She recently returned to Minnesota after a decades-long sojourn in Los Angeles where she found success as a performer\, recording artist\, music educator and as an award-winning film composer. The initial L.A. move was prompted by a Virgin Records’ recording contract for Brother Sun\, Sister Moon\, a trip-hop duo she founded with Paul Robb (Information Society). In addition to solo albums\, Cohen collaborated on hit singles with England’s prestigious band Orbital\, and the French electronic duo Air. Before forming Little Lizard (TRG Records)\, Cohen earned an enthusiastic Midwest regional following with her debut group Farm Accident (Red House Records). \nUltan\, Ylivisaker and Anderson are some of the area’s most talented and sought-after musicians. With decades of accolades and experience\, each is known for an eclectic musical range. To name a few collaborations\, Ultan has performed with Dan Wilson\, Ondara and Soul Asylum; Ylivisaker with John Prine\, Bon Iver and Bruce Hornsby; and Anderson with Max Roach\, Angelique Kidjo\, Steve Tibbetts and Taj Mahal. \nAdam & Ava LevyFather and daughter Adam and Ava Levy are songwriters. Adam has led the Honeydogs for over thirty years\, as well as his recent psychedelic country three-part harmony group Turn Turn Turn. Ava has released a few singles\, writing thoughtful tunes that employ her gorgeous\, breathy voice with a mix of femme punk and Nick Drake guitar. They’ve shared a stage for years in the family music band Bunny Clogs. Between 1986 and 1992\, the band released three popular albums and became an important part of the Twin Cities music scene. Many of the fan’s favorite songs (“Stupid Boy”\, “Color of Her Eyes”\, “She’s Happy”\, “Drank So Much” and many others) are credited to the exceptionally passionate writing skills possessed by Zellar\, however Dankert has also contributed some of the compositions \, including “Time Heals”\, and “Blues Mary”.\n \nArguably\, Zellar’s “I Wanna Drive the Zamboni” is the band’s best-known song\, having been featured in the movies D2: The Mighty Ducks and Mystery\, Alaska\, as well as on the television program Malcolm in the Middle. The answer lies in ‘Trickery’\, the seventh album from gothic post-punk legends Then Comes Silence.  \n \nIt’s 2022\, and on the eve of their first-ever US tour and eager to promote their stellar albums ‘Machine’ (2020) and ‘Hunger’ (2022) for the first time\, Then Comes Silence are suddenly and unexpectedly reduced to a three-piece.  Would their famed darkwave wall-of-sound still work with just the three bandmembers? The answer was resoundingly positive\, so much so that the band resolved to continue with the slimmed-down line-up on a permanent basis on further US (supporting Vision Video and The Bellwether Syndicate) and European tours\, and now on their return to the studio. This inadvertent metamorphosis of the band has led to a different way of creating music and performing live. \n \nTo capture the heart and essence of the trio’s live prowess\, ‘Trickery’ was recorded in just three days in Kapsylen Studio in Stockholm. With Jonas Fransson (in the band since 2015) laying down an energetic punk backbeat and sleaze punk fan Hugo Zombie (a 2018 recruit) providing inventive and rhythmic guitar lines\, the main focus remains on singer and bassist Alex Svenson\, sole surviving member from the band’s 2012 debut album\, whose velvety croon and solid bass lines are enhanced on ‘Trickery’ by retro synth sounds reminiscent of his recent solo futurist wave project Neonpocalypse. “The electronic elements are essential to ‘Trickery’\,” Alex says\, “but are also a salute to punk music\, the cradle of Then Comes Silence and the cradle of post-punk“. \n \nThe band’s existential crisis also resulted in a re-assessment of their very raison d’être\, and this is reflected lyrically on the new album. Then Comes Silence explain that ‘Trickery’ celebrates friendship\, unity and the feeling of belonging to a group\, a tribe.\n \n\n“Being a part of what many people call ‘the goth and post-punk community’ is a great privilege. After being on the road meeting people from the music scene for so many years\, we have experienced a caring and welcoming community. Both old and young\, some with a similar background and some just for the love of the music and the culture that comes with the lifestyle. No-one is free from apprehension and fear. This rockin’ quartet is considered one of the torch bearers of American roots music.\n \nSince forming in 1988 in Southern California\, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys have become one of the world’s most beloved Americana/Roots acts\, drawing from the deep musical waters that flow just beneath the surface of Rock & Roll’s fertile soil. A childhood passion for Country\, Doo-Wop\, and Rhythm & Blues 45s led Sandy (born Robert Williams) to pursue a singing career as a teenager\, beginning a life in music that continues decades later. \n \nAnd as his personal record collection continues to grow (75\,000 and counting)\, so does the depth of the musical influences that stream through his songwriting and singing style. A critically acclaimed tribute to Tex-Mex hero Freddy Fender\, released at the beginning of the 2020 lockdown\, points the way forward for Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys as they continue on a path of musical growth. After nearly 35 years on the road\, and more than two dozen releases to their credit\, they remain key figures on the ever-changing Americana circuit\, both on record and in live appearances.\n
