Originally based in Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, the band enjoyed international success in the 1970s and 1980s\, releasing more than 20 albums since 1971. \n \nApril Wine’s extensive discography includes numerous gold and platinum selling albums featuring mega-hits like ‘Roller’\, ‘I Like to Rock’\, ‘You Could Have Been a Lady’ and others. Best known for their international top 40 hit ‘Just Between You And Me’\, an iconic power ballad that made them the very first Canadian band on MTV\, April Wine went on to release over twenty albums and have received a combined total of 11 Juno Award nominations in the Group Of the Year\, Album of the Year\, and Best Selling Single categories.  \n \nIn 2009\, April Wine was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and were honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for being part of Canadian Music History for 40 years\, and in 2010 the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.   \n———– \nIt all began in 1974 when Derek St. Holmes’ band Scott opened a gig for Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes. Nugent was making a name for himself around the Midwestern portion of the United States\, but thus far had been unable to take his music to the next level.  After seeing\, and hearing\, the young St. Holmes on stage\, he knew what was missing and invited Derek to join his band. Derek brought a strong set of pipes\, solid musicianship and songwriting skills to Nugent’s music\, and in March of 1975 the world was introduced to him via Nugent’s self-titled debut album.  While it was Nugent slinging down the guitar licks\, it was Derek’s voice all over FM radio singing the soon to be classics “Stranglehold\,” “Stormtroopin” and “Just What the Doctor Ordered.” In addition\, Derek wrote\, arranged and sang the classic tune “Hey Baby.” Derek quickly became regarded as one of the best voices on the international rock scene\, all at the tender age of 22 years old.  Nugent and St. Holmes continued their winning combination for three more iconic albums\, Free for All in 1976\, Cat Scratch Fever in 1977 and Double Live Gonzo in 1978.. Derek also continued his on again/off again relationship with Nugent in both the 1980s\, and ‘90s\, co-writing several songs on Ted’s comeback album Spirit of Wild in 1996. \nAfter years of Nugent fans begging Ted for Derek’s return\, St. Holmes was invited by the Motor City Madman in 2011 to once again take his place on the Nugent stage. Derek appeared on Nugent’s 2014 album ShutUp&Jam\, singing. Derek continues to be Nugent’s lead singer on many tours. \n \nFor questions\, email us at medina@medinaentertainment.com or call us at 763-478-6661.Ticket price does not include a facility fee\, sales tax or service fees. All dates\, prices\, times and bands are subject to change.

SUMMARY:California Cover Cavalcade
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS \n\n RSVP ON FACEBOOK\n \n\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nThe Zen Arcade Stage\nat The Hook and Ladder’s Mission Room \n\n\nDoors 7:00pm :: Music 7:30:: 21+\n\n\n$15 ADV (Box-Office) / $20 DOOR\n\n\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nCalifornia Cover Cavalcade\nwith Creedence Clearwater Replayed and The Wandering Suns\n\n\n\n\n\n“California Cover Cavalcade” is a special event with 2 great local bands – Creedence Clearwater Replayed and The Wandering Suns – paying tribute to some of the classic bands from Golden State. Doug Collins and the Receptionistsare once again showing their love for the mighty CCR with their tribute group Creedence Clearwater Replayed. And Brian Just and friends present their new group The Wandering Suns which highlights the greats from California – from The Byrds to Flying Burrito Brothers\, and Neil Young to Manassas. \n\n\nCalled “one of the most brilliant songwriters to emerge from the Twin Cities in nearly two decades” by Southernminn.com\,Doug Collins and his crack band The Receptionists (which includes members of the classic Minnesota band Gear Daddies)\, are highlighted in their energetic shows\, soulful singing\, and honest\, emotional songs. As Creedence Clearwater Replayed they honor one of America’s best bands. Radio DJ and music promoter Jessica Paxton says of Collins\, “He really cares about his audiences having a good time\, and he’s got a fantastic in-between song stage banter too; he’s a super funny guy and the dapperest of dressers.” \n\n\nIn 2024\, friends Brian Just\, Clay Williams\, and Kent Militzer wanted to revisit the cosmic country and harmony vocals they had enjoyed playing in their former band\, The Blackberry Brandy Boys (2011-2015). The band solidified their lineup with the additions of frequent BBB guest Dave Boquist\, Clay’s Dieselfitter bandmate Dan Peterson\, and drummer John Sandbo\, The Wandering Suns was born. \n\nDrawing inspiration from legendary artists The Wandering Suns deliver a unique blend of original compositions and cover songs that pay homage to the rich tapestry of Americana music.\n\n\n\n—\n\n\nBOX-OFFICE Tickets Are Available in The Zen Arcade During Hours of Operation.
