His vocals are unmistakably full bodied and incredibly soulful.  Pop Matters declared he “will appeal to fans of Gary Clark Jr. and Chicano Batman.” At his core\, Sugaray Rayford is a galvanizing uniter. Burnside\, T Model Ford\, Big Jack Johnson\, Robert Belfour\, etc. He’s developed a uniquely funky and hypnotic bass/rhythm/lead simultaneous “full band” guitar sound\, as one-man band with foot drums or power duo with drummer (notably Cedric Burnside).
