Wisconsin singer-songwriter Derek Pritzl opens.\n \nErik Koskinen is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist\, whose music is not categorized by sub-genres. Stylistically he is on his own. Influenced by roots music of the Americas and the world\, the rhythmic integrity and musical tone are as important as the lyrical content and the artistic intent. \nSprouted from a blend of American folk\, country\, rock-n-roll\, and blues\, Erik Koskinen  and his top-shelf band realize a sound that is distinctive and fresh while familiar and classic. Koskinen’s albums are a lyrical and musical metaphor of America’s theaters of war\, history\, relationships\, and reflections in the mirror. “Burning The Deal” was produced by Koskinen and Bernie Larsen(Melissa Etheridge\, Jackson Browne) and recorded by Jason Mariani (Mumford & Sons\, Kenny Loggins) at Brotheryn Studios in Ojai\, California. \n\n Knowing but not didactic\, Koskinen channels the ways of Whitman and reverently enters the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbor. The Minneapolis Star Tribune calls Koskinen “the real deal” and “the best country songwriter in Minnesota.”\n \n\n \n\nDerek Pritzl is a Wisconsin singer/songwriter born and raised in the fertile farmland of Valders\, Wisconsin. He brings a style and narrative that is reminiscent of some of the great songwriters of yesterday and today\, continuing a tradition of songwriting developed by artists such as John Prine\, Guy Clark\, and John Fogerty. His songs evoke visions of the struggles of the working man\, the road-weary traveler\, and of love found and love lost. Regardless of the size of venue\, his music and songs create an atmosphere of intimacy\, reflection\, and fellowship that brings the audience into his world.\n“….Pritzl serves up a round of gritty\, road-tested songs about working-class life and whiskey-soaked love.” – Adventures in Americans\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n—–\nThe Award-Winning* Under the Canopy series at The Hook & Ladder Theater returns with its uniquely seasonal urban footprint to the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis in 2023. *Voted Best in MN 2021 by StarTribune readers.—–The Hook has committed to having a food truck Under the Canopy throughout the 2023 season for our guests.Come hungry and enjoy dinner with the show!
