Tommy Castro & the Painkillers with guest Chicago Slim and Chicago Blues All-Stars
Tommy Castro and the Painkillers have been focusing their music efforts in intertwining their love for blues and rock music. Tommy Castro is more famously known for his hard rock, American blues, and R&B sounds. In 2008, he awarded the Blues Music Award for Entertainer of the Year. While the Painkillers are compiled with bass played randy McDonald, keyboard player James Pace, and drummer David Tucker. The collaboration between Tommy and the Painkillers has been able to get Tommy back to his roots. Currently, the band put together the album The Devil You Know, which is Castro’s raw essence of blues music. The album is considered a contemporary blues tour-de-force. Tommy explains that this album challenged him musically. It was something that he wanted to remain true to his roots, but add new and different rhythms and sounds. Currently, the band is touring the album and bringing their music back to life. They are preforming night after night connecting with fans all over the world. They goal as a band is to uplift spirits, ease the pain, and fill the dance floor with fans for decades to come.
“Sizzling, slow-burning, gritty blues and rock…shimmering, swampy, downright funky vibes drenched with Castro’s stinging, pure and crisp lead runs and fluid, jet-fueled solos.” – Living Blues
