Obi Original is a Nigerian producer and artist. Surrounded by music his entire lifetime, he finds inspiration from all genres. Obi and The Black Atlantics introduce a music style with a rich political history: Afro-rock. Think of the sounds reminiscent of Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, and other diasporic thought leaders of the ‘70s. A Minnesota-based music collective founded in 2014, The Black Atlantics sound uniquely morphs the styles of Afrobeat, Rock, Funk, and Highlife to create their self-coined “Django” sound.
A true visionary talent, Obi showcased his skills as a composer and guitarist during a recent tour with fellow recording artist, Libianca, alongside the legendary Alicia Keys.
