The Prizefighters, & Stacked Like Pancakes
—
Mustard Plug started out in the punk clubs, basements and dive bars of the Midwest, playing punk-influenced ska music before most people in the U.S. had ever heard of ska. They’ve clung to a DIY work ethic that has been ingrained in them since growing up in the 1980′s hardcore scene. 1500+ shows and 200,000+ album sales later, it cannot be denied that the band has surpassed all expectations and permanently staked their claim in contemporary music.
—
The Prizefighters have honed their reggae bona fides, having teamed up with heavy hitters of ’60s Jamaica, playing as the backing band for artists such as the “King of Ska” Derrick Morgan, legendary duet partners Stranger Cole & Patsy Todd and Roy Panton & Yvonne Harrison, and most notably harmonica player and vocalist Charlie Organaire, whose playing can be heard on hundreds of early Jamaican ska and rocksteady hits. The Prizefighters and Charlie Organaire released a trio of 45rpm singles on Jump Up! Records, and toured Europe together in support of Charlie Organaire Meets the Prizefighters. Punch Up is The Prizefighters’ third full length LP released on Jump Up! Records, following 2010’s Follow My Sound and 2019’s Firewalk.
—
Stacked Like Pancakes (SLP) is an energetic ska/punk band that formed in 2007 just outside of Baltimore, Maryland. The band was founded by lead vocalist and guitarist Kellen McKay, who envisioned a musical project that fused together elements of ska, punk rock, and alternative genres. The name “Stacked Like Pancakes” itself reflects their playful and eclectic approach to music, drawing inspiration from the band’s desire to create a sound that was as dynamic and diverse as their influences. SLP is currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

From their inception, Stacked Like Pancakes set out to defy conventional genre boundaries. Their music incorporates brass instruments like trombone and trumpet, alongside traditional rock instrumentation, resulting in a vibrant and distinctive sound. The band’s early releases, including their debut album “We’re Not Insane” (2011) and subsequent albums like “This Is Us” (2015) and “Strange Creatures” (2019), showcased their evolution and growth. They champion their fan base as their “record label,” in that every album was crowd-funded for a combined $130,000 from fans and supporters around the world.
Stacked Like Pancakes is known for high-energy live performances and infectious melodies, carrying the energy to the Vans Warped Tour in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019. One of their most notable national tours was with Reel Big Fish in 2016 and Save Ferris in 2017, both of which laid the foundation for creating fans around the country.
