The Placaters Album Release Party
w/ Special Guests Alexander Craig • The Nukes of Hazzard (Jason Shannon) • Noah Engh
The Placaters, Minneapolis’ very own Original Rock n’ Soul band, craft tunes that compel you to think, dance, and perhaps reevaluate some life decisions—all within the span of a five-minute durge. Their self-release marks the very first studio recording for these dive bar stalwarts. Their new Album Motel, masterfully produced by Jason Shannon at Zoo School Studio, delivers a rich 5 song Vinyl EP that kicks open your door, cannonballs through the room and makes its home on your mantel. Original cuts including- “Ass Kickin’ Machine” and “Doesn’t Matter” – fill a void in the Twin Cities’ music scene of original hard driving, rock and roll.
The Placaters have a sound richly steeped in Americana, roots, soul and blues which produces a frenzied form of lounge music covering the gap between legends like Frank Sinatra and Tom Waitsinto new territory like Nathaniel Rateliffand Paul Cauthen.
Alexander Craig captivates crowds with his high energy fusion of rock n’ roll, soul, punk and blues music. Whether he’s leading a big band, his trio, or performing as an old school one man band his shows inspire dance and audience engagement.
Between 2008 and 2018 he wrote and produced five albums and played over a thousand gigs as Crankshaft. After a decade of evolving as a person and an artist it was time to shed the persona. With a new perspective on life he decided to reinvent himself using his given name. Alexander Craig speaks a positive message and promotes unity during these divided times bringing light to our commonalities through song and dance.
Noah Engh has been there and done that and is now doing this. As he says, “… that’s all you need to know.”
