A night of shared songs and meaningful conversation around songwriting, craft, and parenting as a creative, working artist in The Mission Room. Music and discussion will be guided by songwriter LAAMAR with notable Minneapolis fellow songwriters HALEY, Peter Miller, and The Nunnery.
LAAMAR is the latest project led by Minneapolis-based singer, songwriter, saxophonist, and composer Geoffrey Lamar Wilson. Former frontman of Brooklyn-based
Jus Post Bellum, Wilson is also known for his multilayered looped saxophone performances and
catchy podcast ditties. This latest project blends his idiomatic inspirations bridging Folk, Soul, R&B, and Country with a constant ear toward issues of racial and social justice, and the shared human experience.
HALEY:
Haley has released 10 albums, toured internationally, is a mother of two children, has 3 cats, and lives in St. Paul, MN.
Peter Miller (We Are the Willows):
We Are The Willows is the project of Minneapolis based singer/ songwriter/ producer Peter Miller. We are the willows crafts dynamic songs with a contemplative air. The songs cover a lot of conceptual ground: from family history to modern social life and personal identity. Peter will be performing solo for this show.
The Nunnery:
The Nunnery (Sarah Elstran) is an independent musician that bridges the gap between bright-eyed pop composition and hands-on atmospheric live layering of voice. Her vocal loops give us the kind of detail and wide multi-octave range that we might come to expect from a marquee pop star, while her production decisions continually keep us guessing as to what rabbit holes her tracks might fall into next.
